The umbilical cord is clamped immediately after birth. The clamp is removed before the baby goes home from the hospital. The cord stump usually fall off around 7 to 14 days. When it falls off, a small amount of blood or wetness is normal. At home, you can take care of the stump by keeping these in mind:
1. Cleanliness is Vital
2. Keep it Dry
3. Stick to Sponge Bath
4. Clothe the Baby Sensibly
5. Diapering Properly
6. Allow Natural Healing
