Talking to Toddlers About Loss | Whitney Port

parenting tips for infants

Uncle Brett, our fish of a year and a half, died. Sonny will be three at the end of July. He knows who Uncle Brett is; he named him, but he didn’t think about him too much. When Uncle Brett died, Timmy wondered if this was a good time to teach Sonny about death. I had no idea, so we turned to Ziva for advice. More now than before death is a topic at our tables and while we ended up NOT talking to Sonny about Uncle Brett, we thought Ziva’s wisdom would be valuable to everyone out there. Thank you Ziva for always taking the time for us and our deepest condolences to everyone out there who has lost anyone. Here’s what she had to say.
